Last weekend finally saw a bit of vaguely summery weather, and a gentle stroll along the shore at Titchwell and Snettisham provided an ideal escape from London. Sanderling were photogenic as ever…
Jono, Paul and I managed a reasonable haul of other birds, including Garganey, 21 Whimbrel, a Curlew Sandpiper, a smart juv Med Gull and 8 Spoonbill, while the first Arctic Skua of the autumn harrassed terns offshore. Seawatching season starts here…
This weekend has also been all about waders: Old Hall and Cliffe RSPB reserves have given up a combined total of 6 Wood Sands, 5 Curlew Sands, and a heap of other regular passage waders. Great birding!
